Recently, we told you about a price increase for Disney+. Now, Bob Iger, CEO of the mouse company, has revealed that this is not the only bad news for users, since, Like Netflix, it will be impossible to share passwords in the future.
After seeing the success that Netflix has had with this decision, it seems that Disney is not afraid of the negative response from users. During an investor meeting for the end of the most recent fiscal quarter, Iger said it will be impossible to share Disney+ passwords starting next September. For the moment, only the United States is being discussed, as is the price increase, but the possibility of this being implemented worldwide soon after is not ruled out. This is what the CEO commented:
“We have not had any negative reaction to the notifications (to remove shared passwords) that have been sent out and to the work we have been doing.”
Among all the bad news for the consumer, Iger also revealed that Disney+ is finally profitable for them, because it generated $47 million during the last quarter. In comparison, during the same period last year it recorded losses of $512 million. In this way, it seems that the company is willing to make less consumer-friendly decisions.
Remember, You will no longer be able to share Disney+ passwords starting next September. In related topics, you can learn more about the price increase of this service here. Likewise, these are the new releases of this platform for August 2024.
Author’s Note:
As soon as Disney sees profits, it seems that any pro-user plan disappears. It is a shame that something that many have repudiated on Netflix is replicated on Disney+, which means that other platforms, such as Max and Prime Video, will follow suit.
