50-Year-Old Father Dives to Save 12-Year-Old Son from Lake Como: Boy Is Safe but He Never Resurfaced
Another tragedy in the lakes of Lombardy, with a new accident that has shaken the waters of the Lake Como. This time, between Dongo and Gravedona, a 50-year-old man disappeared into thin air, most likely a tourist on holiday in the area. The alarm was raised around 2:00 PM today. The man dived from a boat to try to save his 12-year-old son, who was showing signs of danger.
According to an initial reconstruction of the facts, the man noticed his son in danger and did not hesitate to jump into the water to provide assistance. Unfortunately, after diving, he disappeared under the surface of the lake. Rescue operations were immediately activated: the fire brigade divers and the Drago helicopter, which took off from Malpensa, intervened promptly and are currently engaged in the search operations for the missing tourist.
The son was fortunately rescued by passengers on another boat, who promptly called the emergency number 112. The boy, although shaken, is now safe thanks to the intervention of those present.
These tragic episodes underline once again the danger of the waters of the Lombardy lakes, which, despite their apparent tranquility, can be treacherous. Local authorities and rescuers continue to recommend maximum caution to anyone who decides to venture into the water, recalling the importance of adopting all necessary safety measures to prevent fatal accidents.
