“We are very happy and proud to support this event. It is an initiative that is very dear to me, these women are a great inspiration for everyone. For us it is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside patient associations and scientific societies because we are not only an innovative pharmaceutical company, but we are truly committed to supporting patients not only with pharmacological therapies, but also through high-quality educational and preventive medicine programs”. Joanne Jervis, managing director of Daiichi Sankyo Italia, said this while participating in the Rome stage, at the Eur lake, of the CardioBreast Dragon Boat Festival, the initiative promoted by the National Institute of Cardiovascular Research (Inrc) in collaboration with the Italian Dragon Boat Federation (Fidb) and the unconditional contribution of the pharmaceutical company, which combines sport and awareness of cardio-oncology prevention.
The event, now in its third edition, thanks to the enthusiasm of the Breast Cancer Paddlers (the pink paddlers), sees teams of women who have undergone breast cancer surgery compete in a friendly race between female Dragon Boat teams. During the event – which will stop in 3 other Italian regions, Piedmont (Turin), Tuscany (Florence) and Sicily (Palermo) – cardiovascular screenings are available for spectators in the INRC camper and information material created in partnership with the patient associations that support the project: Italian Heart Foundation (Fipc), National Coordination of Heart Associations (Conacuore), Association for the Fight against Cerebral Strokes (Alice), Italian League for the Fight against Tumors (Lilt), National Association of Women Operated for Breast Cancer (Andos), Europa Donna and Onco Beauty Onlus.
