Biden and Trump, US TV duel
Biden-Trump, now only an attack could take away The Donald’s victory…
On the night between 27 and 28 June it was broadcast on the US broadcaster CNN the first presidential debate between the president Joe Biden and the former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump. An hour and a half of debate more focused on the psychophysical conditions of the Democratic candidate than on the actual issues, from abortion to immigration up to war. “With the understanding that anything can happen, the only way to prevent Trump from returning to White House It would be an attack, they should kill him”. The interview with the political scientist and author Alessandro Nardone.
Was current American President Joe Biden’s TV performance really a disaster?
Before talking about the president’s disappointing performances, we need to talk about the media disaster that for more than three years has told us an artificial vision of reality by telling us that Biden was perfectly capable of being the commander in chief of the greatest power in the world. Yesterday’s debate demonstrated what Trump and the Republican Party have always stated in a self-evident manner and that was completely evident. The fact that they are now questioning Biden as a candidate makes him incompatible as president in my opinion.
Has the “house of cards” of the mainstream media collapsed with an at times embarrassing debate?
For years I have been saying that Trump would return to the White House when everyone thought he was defeated. And this is what is happening because in the end the voters vote and not the producers of fake news.
It almost seems, watching the 90-minute debate, that Biden is shooting himself in the foot, citing difficult moments of his presidency and talking too little about burning issues for his opponent. But is the problem only physical or cognitive?
No, it is not just the physical and cognitive point of view that is the flaw of the 46th president. The defeat derives above all from the disaster that his presidency produced. Biden has no successes to report. He has a country that is in decline.
On the same topic of abortion, one of the most complex issues for the Republican candidate, Biden used rambling and senseless phrases…
This is the level of the Biden administration. Since Biden arrived we have all seen what has happened from an international point of view. This is the fruit of his way of being. Moreover, with respect to international politics and wars, in perfect continuity with the Obama administration of which he was vice president. A series of disasters that stopped during the Trump administration but which resumed even more vehemently with an inadequate president like Biden.
So a missed opportunity for Joe Biden, defeated on every front? In the post-debate poll published by CNN, the American people expressed themselves in favor of Trump with an overwhelming 67% of the votes
Trump won the debate on merit. Because for Trump, unlike Biden, the facts speak for themselves. Regardless of Biden’s poor performance, Trump would have a series of advantages in his favor. The economic indicators after the tax reform speak for themselves, the employment rate of people of color at an all-time high. But not only that. The zero wars speak for themselves, the results also speak for themselves from the point of view of the renegotiation of tariffs with China. The same cannot be said of the Democratic candidate.
Several voices have spoken of the panic that has spread among the Democrats after the debate. But what will actually happen? Is a change of candidate plausible?
The Democrats are children of the agreement that has been perpetuated within the Democratic establishment itself from 2008 to today. When Hillary Clinton was the candidate expected to win in the primaries, she was defeated by Obama. An agreement was struck between the Clinton family and the Obama family to roll out the red carpet for the latter until 2016. Then came the Trump cyclone. With Biden, a continuum of willingness to maintain the status quo has therefore been shown.
Could whatever action the Democratic Party tries to take backfire?
It is counterproductive to keep Biden as the candidate but to depose him would be to admit the disaster of his presidency. Several names from the party’s past are starting to make space. There is even talk of a return of Hillary Clinton while Kamala Harris just needs to listen to her talk about her to understand that she is at Biden’s level.
And the Michelle Obama hypothesis doesn’t excite you?
I find the idea of Michelle Obama as a candidate much less suggestive than the mainstream media, which goes wild every time they talk about it, make it out to be.
If Biden emerged from this debate negatively, opinions on Trump remain discordant but certainly more positive. Viral on social media, beyond President Biden’s moments of distraction and silence, are also the tycoon’s sharp answers. But how did they really get out of it? The consequences of the TV duel?
It is not likely that the Republican electoral campaign can focus only on the opponent’s conditions and not on the issues. In fact, this is not the case. It is an established fact. In my opinion, this debate certifies in any case the end of Biden’s experience as president. This debate would therefore certify Biden’s end of the line. Trump also has many other cartridges to use in these months. We have seen immigration, we have seen America First on acting in the interests of one’s own country. And not only that. We can talk about the economy, about the relaunch of those policies that led under his presidency to the return of over 30 thousand American companies that had gone to invest abroad. These would therefore be the issues that would also lead many Democratic voters not to vote for their candidate.
Even though the race is still open and there are just over 4 months to go until election day, the game would already seem over. Is that really the case?
While anything can happen, as I write in my book, the only way to prevent Trump from returning to the White House would be an attack, to kill him.
It is therefore evident how clear the road seems for the Republicans and tortuous for the Democrats….
I said this and wrote it after January 6th and I was convinced of it because I was aware of Biden’s inadequacy and how Trump had important arrows in his quiver. The American electorate, however, except for some radicalisms, is not ideologized, it does not have our history, leading them to vote for those who guarantee they will make it to the end of the month and for those who guarantee they will be sure to leave the house without risking being robbed or attacked. This could play a lot in favor of former President Trump.
