Ferrari, redemption goal
After the great success of Monte-Carlo, it was expected that the Ferrari remained competitive in Montreal, another circuit where the high curbs should have disadvantaged Red Bull and instead rewarded the qualities of the SF-24. An SF-24 which, however, never turned on in Quebec and largely disappointed expectations, finishing out of Q3, out of the points and with a sad double retirement. The Montmeló weekend will therefore tell us the truth about this Red car, as beautiful in the Principality as it is terrible in Canada: team principal Frederic Vasseur he is confident and thinks that the Scuderia can raise its head in Catalonia.
Vasseur’s words
“The Spanish Grand Prix should see us return to competitiveness, with the same level of performance we have shown throughout the season before the Canadian Grand Prix. We arrive in Barcelona encouraged by the fantastic performance of our colleagues at Ferrari Hypercar, who have just won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second consecutive year. We learned some valuable lessons from the Montreal weekend and believe we have already turned the page. We must work calmly and continue to focus on ourselves“, this is the Frenchman’s comment on Ferrari channels.
“The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit has always been regarded as an excellent test of an all-round car’s capabilities and we expect to return to our usual form“, he added. “However, throughout the season we have seen qualifying and races fought to the hundredth of a second, so it will be crucial for us to ensure we do everything correctly, down to the smallest details. Because of this we will always have to be at our bestbecause only by carrying out each session perfectly will we be able to obtain the results we are capable of“.
Vasseur then dedicated his last words to Carlos Sainzat his last Montmeló as a Ferrari driver: “This is his home race and I’m sure that all the support from the fans will give him an extra boost. It will be an interesting weekend and we hope to get a lot of points“.
