Superbike returns to the track this weekend for the Misano round, the home event of Ducati and several Italian riders, including Andrea Iannone. The driver from Vasto is determined to achieve a podium, which is missing from the Superpole Race in Barcelona, in which he achieved a second place. Even more ambitious, but not unrealistic, is the idea of aiming for something more than just a podium.
However, to be able to achieve this objective, the Goeleven rider will have to work over the weekend to try to change the feeling with the bike, which was not particularly good in the tests which took place last week in Misano: “After a long time, I return to racing in Italy and it’s a great emotion for me.”
“I hope it’s a good weekend for us, but I’m a bit worried because I struggled a bit in the tests,” explains Iannone to the worldsbk.com website. “The feeling with the bike isn’t great, but in any case I hope to improve during the weekend. The guys on the team have been looking at the data at home and we have several ideas for this weekend. We’ll see, we’ll try to improve and stay ahead.”
The Abruzzo native goes into detail, explaining what the problems he experienced in the tests consist of. However, Iannone states that this is a situation common to more or less all Ducati riders, except Alvaro Bautista: “This track has a lot of grip, so I struggle when braking and in the last part of braking. But I think that more or less, apart from Alvaro, all the Ducatis are struggling. But we’ll see, because the weekend has just begun and I will put all my strength into fighting.”

The Misano round will be important not only to rediscover the sensations on the bike, also considering that some time has passed since the last round held in Assen. For Iannone, the home stage will be fundamental from a future perspective. A good performance will be crucial in deciding which path to take in 2025.
The MotoGP market has been going crazy in recent weeks, and Superbike is not unscathed. What happens in the prototype paddock has repercussions on that of the production derivatives and Iannone is the center of attention. Could a return to MotoGP be probable? The rumors are that he is with Pramac (which however has not yet decided which bike it will have in 2025).
Iannone decides to gloss over this topic, claiming that he wants to focus only on the weekend: “I want to focus on this race, it’s important for me. At the end of this round I will start talking to the manufacturers.” However, the rider from Vasto does not hide that the goal for 2025 is to have an official bike: “We’ll see, because I have some proposals on the table, but I think it’s a bit early. Factory bike? Surely. This is important and is the focus. I would like an official bike in an official team.”
