Mattia Michelotto gave the victory in Race 1 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa to the VSR team in the prestigious setting of Le Mans.
The event staged on the Circuit de la Sarthe did not spare any surprises, especially in the battles of the leading group who twice lost their leader.
Amaury Bonduel started very strong from Pole Position, holding the lead excellently and pulling ahead of his rivals, with a safety margin that could give him a good chance at the stop.
But on lap 5, just when the whirlwind of pit stops had begun, the boy from BDR-Grupo Prom found his left rear delaminated near the ‘Daytona’ chicane, losing parts on the subsequent sprint leading to ‘Mulsanne’ .
The stop on the side of the track was therefore inevitable with great regret because in fact the dominance at that moment was total, but the surprises did not end there because shortly afterwards, in the same stretch, J.Riegel also suffered the same punishment.
The Leipert Motorsport driver had just taken over the wheel, inheriting it from Sébastian Balthasar, who was second behind Bonduel and with the duo on the verge of victory once they took the lead.
Instead, for them too, a very sad retirement which opened the doors for Michelotto, who was very good at managing the final laps to keep his Super Trofeo Evo2 ahead of that of Ali/Soderstrom (Target).
The tussle for the last step of the overall and PRO Class podium was won at the last minute by Gachet/Tirman (Schumacher CLRT), thanks to an error by Enzo Geraci, who ended up spinning at the ‘Porsche’ curves and slipped to seventh position with the shared car with Leonardo Caglioni (Oregon Team).
Maloigne/Dimitrov (Ion Lynx) and Levet/Toth (Oregon) then move up to the overall Top5, followed by Nahra/Enjalbert, authors of the success in the PRO/AM Class to the joy of Pegasus Racing, always ahead of Zanon/Frassineti (VSR) , eighth at the finish line.
In the overall Top 10 we also have Jerzy Spinkiewicz (Uniq Racing) and Galas/Pavlicek (Micanek-Buggyra), followed closely by Hampus Eriksson (Target) and Cabirou/Antonel (CMR) for the top 10 PROs.
The PRO/AM podium is instead completed by Kuppens/Meyuhas (Boutsen VDS), who crossed the finish line in 16th place with M.Gersager (GM Motorsport) behind, winner in Class AM ahead of Randazzo/Tribaudini (VSR) and H. Han (Target).
In the Lamborghini Cup, a good comeback for Matic/Biglieri on the ASR ST, place of honor going to Keats/Martin (Brutal Fish Racing Team) and third place for A.Hernandez Ortega for BDR-Grupo Prom.
