There new Volkswagen ID.7 It’s the sedan electric which is a candidate for long journeys, thanks to its almost five metres, to its aerodynamic design, to a new 210 kW (286 HP) electric motor and to 86 kWh batterywhich ensures up to approx 700 km in WLTP. The ID.7 is also the first Volkswagen in the world with head-up display with augmented reality as standard. The architecture of the cockpit thus changes, making the classic instrumentation almost superfluous. The sedan is also available in version Tourers And GTX
New electric Volkswagen ID.7, features
The ID.7 is a large electric Volkswagen for long journeys. The aerodynamic design of the fast-back sedan it focuses on clean, fluid and decisive lines. For example, the front is completely closed. Here the design is characterized in particular by the sculptural bonnet and the LED headlights with the thin strip LED for daytime running lights and direction indicators integrated in the upper part.
Another peculiarity that enhances the design style of the long side is the characteristic line under the base of the window with the clear “cut”. In the tail the horizontal lines highlight the width of the car. The rear is dominated by a LED band which extends outwards to the LED rear lights.
New aerodynamic Volkswagen ID.7
To maximize the autonomy of the new ID.7, Volkswagen technicians also worked hard on the aerodynamics, achieving a coefficient of aerodynamic resistance of approximately 0.23 (depending on the setup). The new ID.7 is long 4,961 mm. In particular, the long wheelbase 2,966 mm ensures plenty of space in the passenger compartment, which is devoted to practicality down to the smallest details.
A new one is available upon request intelligent panoramic roof with glass that electronically switches from transparent to tinted and vice versa. Like many other functions of the ID.7, the roof can also be controlled with the natural voice command. The front seats have also been redesigned: for the first time in a Volkswagen they are offered as an option adaptive Climatronic seats. The new massage function makes long journeys go by faster.
Cockpit, what the interiors of the ID.7 are like
In the ID.7 the classic instrumentation has been reduced to the bare minimum. The information function is carried out by head-up display with augmented reality as standardwhich projects data such as speed into the area in front of the driver and virtual interactive directions such as turning arrows in the real world in front of the ID.7. In the center of the dashboard is the infotainment display 15 inches (38 centimeters).
This keeps the driver’s gaze on the road. In the ID.7, assistance systems such as the Travel Assist with swarm data they regulate the transversal and longitudinal dynamics on the fast roads.
Upon request, via Travel Assist, the ID.7 also provides assistance for changing lanes on the motorway starting from 90 km/h. The driver continues to keep everything under control, but with much less effort. Also to park it’s easier: the electric Volkswagen takes care of it independently.
For example, with the parking with memory function at a distance of up to 50 meters. The driver can remain in the ID.7 or monitor the maneuver from the app for smartphones.
Volkswagen ID.7 GTX what changes
The new, sportier ID.7 GTX stands out for its characteristic design GTX at the front and rear and offers an improved range of standard equipment.
Externally, it presents nnew 20 inch Skagen alloy wheels, IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlights with illuminated Volkswagen logos and a GTX-specific light signature in the front air intakes. Inside, the refined cabin includes heated seats with red stitchingperforated GTX writing on the backrests, multifunction steering wheel with red central insert and red stitching, and lighting 30-color ambient light.
Standard equipment includes App-Connect wireless for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, augmented reality head-up display, IDA voice assistant with Integrated ChatGPTtwo-zone automatic climate control, Keyless Entry & Go system and anti-theft alarm.
Volkswagen ID.7 advanced electric motor
The ID.7 is available in trim and engine versions Pro And Pro S, is the first MEB model with a new drive developed by Volkswagen. The system essentially consists of 210 kW electric motor (286 hp; permanent magnet synchronous), from 2-stage single-speed gearbox and by the pulse width modulation inverter (power and control electronics).
The motor has been revised with the rotor with more powerful and even more permanent magnets heat resistantone improved stator with more effective windings with maximum wire cross-section, a cooling jacket for the outer side of the stator and a new combined system oil and water to ensure a thermal stability even greater. The new pulse width modulation inverter ensures thermal stability.
Volkswagen ID.7 battery and autonomy
The motor is powered by a choice of two different batteries. The ID.7 Pro is equipped with a 77 kWh (gross: 82 kWh), which supports the fast charging up to 170 kW. There Pro S instead he can count on one 86 kWh battery (gross: 91 kWh) and on a DC charging power of up to 200 kW.
According to initial internal estimates, with a full charge the ID.7 Pro travels up to approximately 615 kmthe ID.7 Pro S up to 707 km, according to the WLTP cycle. The autonomy declared by Volkswagen for the GTX with 86 kWh battery it is 588km (577 for the Tourer).
A new thermal management ensures that the battery is preconditioned before stopping for charging. This preconditioning starts automatically with active route guidance to a charging station.
ID.7 GTX all-wheel drive
The ID.7 GTX, with speed limited to 180 km/his equipped with 4MOTION electric all-wheel drive with two electric motors, one for each axis, providing a total power of 250 kW (340 hp). The 210 kW (286 hp) PSM rear engine is highly efficient, while the 80 kW (109 hp) it activates according to power needs, ensuring reduced energy consumption in standby mode.
The distribution of force is managed by a four-wheel drive regulator and by the XDS+ electronic differentials, improving stability and reactions to load variations. The GTX offers a balance between comfort and sportiness, with an increased towing capacity of up to 1,400 kg.
The lithium ion battery from 86 kWh net, the largest ever presented by Volkswagen, supports a charging power DC up to 200 kWallowing a recharge from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. Compared to the 77 kWh battery of the ID.7 Pro, this new battery consists of 13 cell modules, integrated into the underbody with an advanced cooling system and a sophisticated management system.
The suspension of the ID.7 GTX has been optimized with stabilizer bars more robust and one progressive sports steering as standard, which guarantees precision and predictability in steering. On request, DCC adaptive suspension control is available, managed by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager reparameterized for advanced customization of driving behavior. Sports mode ESC can be activated manually and further improves driving dynamics.
