During the Xbox Games Showcase in June, Microsoft put out a slew of top-notch products, closing the conference with Gears of War E-Day, a prequel to the entire saga set 14 years before the events of the original game. This chapter, as is easy to guess from the name, will follow the events of Emergency Day, when the Locusts invaded the planet. However, this does not mean that the adventure will literally take place within a single day.
Gears of War: E-Day will be set within multiple daysas confirmed by Gears creative director Matt Searcy.
The words of the creative director of Gears of War E-Days
Speaking with GamesRadar+ during a group interview at Summer Game Fest 2024, Searcy revealed that, while it’s true that the focus of the prequel is the invasion of the Locust Horde itself, the story of E-Day also includes some preparations for and, presumably, the aftermath of the event, extending beyond the confines of a 24-hour day.
“It’s not about one day, it’s about multiple days,” Searcy said. “But it’s about the event, like it’s about being with these characters from the moment that, you know, it’s about to happen [l’invasione]And [si tratta] Of be with them every minutethrough the days as everything happens in the city and to really experience it through their eyes, both what’s happening to them, and what’s happening to the city around them, to the people around them, to the other characters.”
The impression therefore is that the game will make us experience in an intense way a period of time longer than 24 hours, but still short.
We also know that Gears of War E-Day wants to focus on the best moments of the saga: here are which.
