A few days ago, during an interview with IGN, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, launched a direct criticism of PlayStation for Call of Duty content exclusivity, noting that this was “a questionable practice.” Thus, A former director of the Sony division has responded directly to these statements.
Through his official Twitter account, Shawn Layden, former president of SIE Worldwide Studios, reacted to Spencer’s recent statements in an ironic way. While it is true that PlayStation managed to get expansions, DLC and betas as temporary exclusives at the time, this practice was started by Xbox, and It is something that Layden wants to make clear with his sarcastic comments.

This isn’t a big reveal, since during his interview with IGN, Spencer points this out as well, mentioning that the shift to content available to everyone is a positive for the industry.. This is what he commented:
“Xbox started [las exclusividades con Call of Duty]like we broke the community [de Call of Duty]. And now we are back saying that everyone will have access to the same maps, to the same game, at the same time —it was another point I wanted to make clear in the message—”
For now, Xbox has not made a new comment on the matter, and it is very likely that they will not do it again. On related topics, you can learn more about Spencer’s original statements here. Likewise, they surprise fans by falsely cheering for Spencer.
Author’s Note:
These types of responses are fun, but they don’t mean much. Sure, it’s an interesting topic of conversation, and it shows us how the Xbox business has evolved over the years, but it’s best not to get angry about these types of online interactions.
