Mexico City.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced this Wednesday that he will be the one to send to Congress the constitutional reform initiative to establish monetary support for women between 60 and 64 years old, proposed by Claudia Sheinbaum during the campaign.
“For example, the elected President Claudia Sheinbaum is speaking, and it was her commitment, and she is already going to send the reform initiative – well it is going to be our turn – but it is her proposal so that women have a pension of 60 at 64 years old and it is not just that she is elevated to constitutional rank, but that when she enters, at the latest at the beginning of next year, this program will begin,” López Obrador commented.
This morning, in a conference at the National Palace, the federal President explained that the President-elect’s approach will be incorporated in the same reform that seeks to establish in the Magna Carta that the pension for older adults must be provided from the age of 65 and not of the 68.
“The support program for older adults continues, because it is also already a right. The reform that is being proposed is that it was originally established that a universal pension was going to be delivered to adults over 68 years of age. And the truth is that For two or three years now, it has been delivered starting at 65, because it started with 68, universal, and 65 for indigenous communities.
“At least, it was decided that it would be 65 for everyone. However, in the Constitution it was left as 68 years. So, it is going to be corrected, that is, it is going to be modified so that it is 65, and what is going to be added Claudia proposed with the women,” he explained.
Just over three months before the end of his six-year term, President López Obrador warned that there will be no change in the Government, so the new Administration will continue to address the pending issues.
“It is important to remember that continuity with change will greatly help the country and, above all, the people, because there is no change, those who think like the young man who fires his worker will not govern, because it is not just that young man. , there are millions, and those responsible for this behavior are those at the top, very corrupt conservatives.
“Fortunately, the people of Mexico said no to that and they are no longer going to govern, the transformation will continue and whoever is going to govern has that sensitivity to listen, attend to everyone, respect everyone, but give preference to the most humble, to the humiliated, to the forgotten, that is very important, because if it were not going to be a setback, it is going back to serving only a minority and forgetting about the people,” he added.
