There certainly couldn’t be a space left for Assassin’s Creed Shadows during the Ubisoft Forward, and in fact the new chapter of the series occupied a large portion of the event with a gameplay video of approximately 13 minutes which allows you to see the features of the game between Samurai style combat and shinobi stealth action.
As we have already seen on several other occasions, Assassin’s Creed Shadows transports us, for the first time in the series, into feudal Japan, towards the end of the Sengoku era, in which the country is torn apart by bloody clashes which then led to the unification of Japan.
THE two protagonists are very different between them and their characteristics also influence the gameplay, proposing two rather different approaches.
The different ways of the samurai and the shinobi
As we see in the gameplay video, essentially divided into two parts, the two have different fighting styles, but also movement systems and possible solutions to the situations in which they find themselves.
Naoe is a shinobi, Yasuke a samurai under Oda Nobunaga, trained to fight by the latter.
The first is fast and agile, specialized in stealth and the art of ninja-style combat, while the other is more powerful and heavy, trained in the art of the sword from the more classic Bushido approach.
This also determines a fundamental variation in the way of tackling missionsas we see in the video: the initial part has Yasuke as the protagonist, and he appears in broad daylight, interacting with various people as a character of a certain social level, up to a classic knife fight.
The second part of the video is instead entirely focused on Naoe and takes place at night, giving the opportunity to see various solutions that the shinobi can use to move without being seen and eliminate enemies. These systems include the ability to turn off lanterns, hang from the ceiling to hide, strike from behind walls and use various types of weapons and tools.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected on November 15th on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, you can get to know it better by reading our test between lights and shadows of the new Ubisoft game, on the occasion of the Summer Game Fest.
