George Russell with the Mercedes took pole position Canadian GP with a time of 1’12″000the same as Max Verstappen. Canadian Formula 1 pole position qualifying
George Russell obtained the pole position of Canadian GPdespite his best time of 1’11″742 had been recorded in Q2. In Q3, Russell scored 1’12”the same time as Max Verstappenbut having done it first, he earned pole.
Lando Norris he is third, trailing by just 21 thousandths. This is Russell’s second career pole, afterHungaroring 2022. Mercedes now has 138 poles, six of them in Montreal. The Ferraris after the triumphal weekend of Montecarlo they had a difficult day, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz eliminated in Q2placing 11th and 12th respectively.
Both drivers failed to set good times on the tires used, and the final set, reserved for Q3, was not enough to qualify. There lack of speed led to a disappointing result for the Ferraris, dampening the enthusiasm generated by the recent triumph in Monte Carlo.
