The Network of Citizen Observers (ROC) reported this Friday that two beaches in La Paz, Baja California, are not suitable for use due to the presence of entercocci in its waters. It is about the payas of Tecolote and the Treasure.
“It is recommended to take precautions due to the presence of enterococci, which can cause gastrointestinal discomfort and diseases of the skin, eyes and ears,” the Civil Organization reported after obtaining the results of independent studies carried out in these areas of the state.
Likewise, they announced that recreational activities such as swimming or fishing can be carried out on the beaches of Balandra, Pichilingue, El Coromuel, La Concha, El Kiosko and Stella.
Despite the rigorous methodology used by the ROC and its worrying results, the State Commission against Health Risks (Coepris) is the only authority that has the power to issue official alerts in this ruble.
In this regard, those in charge of communication at the ROC clarified that “in effect, Coepris in BCS is the authority in charge of issuing an official alert.”
“The monitoring we carry out is citizen and independent; In this we measure the enterococci present in the water samples (NMP). It is not speculation, they are laboratory results and at no time do we seek to scare and/or misinform; What we do is share the results so that beach users can make their own decisions in an informed and cautious manner,” they added.
