Brake problems for the Monegasque
“We are extremely slow”. Charles Leclerc he didn’t mince words at the end of FP3 in which the Ferraris certainly didn’t shine in the Qualifying simulation. Leclerc finished in tenth position, Sainz in 12th after having had many problems putting together a clean lap also due to traffic.
Furthermore, Leclerc had to deal with the car with more fuel in it, especially brake problems, the temperature was not balanced at the front as had already happened in Bahrain at the beginning of the season. His race engineer, Bryan Bozzi, informed him that with less fuel the situation had improved.
Judging by the telemetry data, Ferrari will have to change something in view of Qualifying. Leclerc’s performances are in line with his opponents in traction and extension, but lacks cornering speed. In the last chicane, for example, Hamilton had 14 km/h more speed and even the change of direction in Turn-1 and Turn-2 cost the Ferraris a lot. To complicate matters, there is the possibility that Qualifying will be wet (54%).
