Repeated podiums
Fresh from four podiums in the last four races of this season, the McLaren arrives in Montreal in excellent shape, as does its driver Lando Norris. In fact, of these four top-3 finishes, three were achieved by the Briton, complete with his first career victory achieved in Miami. The #4 came close to a poker of podiums in Monaco, where Oscar Piastri represented McLaren instead.
Optimism also in Canada
The chances of being able to see McLaren in the top positions for the fifth consecutive time is therefore not remote even for the Canadian Grand Prixalthough Norris prefers to focus on his work without thinking about specific results: “We have been very competitive over the last few weekends, and I think we have come into all the races with a certain degree of optimism – explained to f1.com – there is a good opportunity to perform well if I work well and if the team provides me with a car that allows me to do so. In any case it’s nice to come here with the idea of winning the GP, but we just have to do our joband if we win, we will win.”
The fight with Red Bull and Ferrari
It is therefore difficult to predict whether McLaren will be able to play the role of favorite in Canada, also due to the strong competitiveness present at the moment between the Woking team and the other two direct opponents: “I have no idea if this circuit will be ideal for us – he added – I believe that we, Red Bull and Ferrari are very close at the moment. There’s a good group of drivers in these six cars and any of us can stand out, but I can’t make predictions. There could be a gap of 1 tenth that could decide the first three or four positions, so I have no idea who could be ahead between us, Red Bull and Ferrari.”
