Pramac-Ducati, will it be goodbye?
In recent weeks it has emerged as the Pramac can definitively break away from the Ducati universe to work with Yamaha. These are rumors that team manager Gino Borsoi initially denied but which are resisting and above all are consistent with the latest statements of owner Paolo Campinoti. The Tuscan is waiting for Ducati (“We are awaiting their decisions“), and Ducati has so far done nothing to renew that contract which expires in 2024 and which should have been renewed by Mugello.
Mugello, meanwhile, has passed. And no trace of the renewal. Indeed, the general manager of Ducati Gigi Dall’Igna is certainly not optimistic about the renewal with the satellite team.
Dall’Igna’s words
“The risk (goodbye, ed.) it’s definitely real, it would be a disappointment for us. Pramac and Campinoti have been with us for a long time, they are part of our success. This is still to be evaluated, but the problem actually exists“.
Those words from Marquez
“Pramac is not an option“. So Marc Marquez had declined Pramac’s proposal to replace Jorge Martin (who in any case would have gone away) with the eight-time world champion. The ex-Honda man, based on his experience, will probably have received at least conflicting signals on the Pramac-Ducati renewal. And, for fear of not riding a Ducati GP25 next year, he preferred to categorically refuse this option: in the end, in this chess game, Marquez won and secured a place in the Factory team.
