Georgian State Security Service detained two Georgians on suspicion of terrorism
The State Security Service of Georgia detained two citizens of the country on suspicion of terrorism, reports “Sputnik Georgia”.
The detainees were reportedly found with firearms, hand grenades and Islamic State symbols (IS, ISIS, terrorist organization banned in Russia). They face 10 to 17 years in prison.
The detention of five terrorist group militants in Georgia was reported in August 2021. Then they were detained during a special operation carried out in cooperation with units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministry of Internal Affairs) of Georgia. It is noted that they intended to leave the country and move to a terrorist camp located in Syria.
