The Madrid Prosecutor’s Office had opened a file against the son of the renowned actor Rodolfo Sancho and the businesswoman Silvia Bronchalo for a complaint of personal injuries.

Sancho was accused of trying to get into a taxi without respecting the line, for which a person reprimanded him. The young man’s response was to punch him in the head, which caused a broken tooth and a gap.

Although the attack occurred in November 2019, the case was resolved until June 5, 2024: the Spaniard accepted an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, which requested a year in prison and compensation of 2,100 euros for the victim (less than nine million Colombian pesos).

The young man paid said amount and agreed to comply with a fine of five euros per day for three months, which is equivalent to 450 euros (less than two million Colombian pesos).

The agreement was reflected in a sentence in which the Investigative Court number 16 of Madrid condemned him for a crime of injuries with the mitigating circumstances of undue delays in the process and reparation of the damage.

From a prison in Thailand, he attended this judicial proceeding via video call, which was seen by journalists from his country. The Thai authorities prohibited them from disseminating images and audio; However, according to local media, the man “appeared calm” before the judge.

“This is a minor fine for some minor injuries sustained in the taxi queue while arguing with another customer. This issue is inconsequential and has no impact on the matter that has been held in the Koh Samui court,” he pointed out. his lawyer Marcos García Montes, for the Spanish newspaper The vanguard.

For its part, the defendant’s defense has insisted that it was a “reckless homicide.”

A month of closed-door hearings, forensic and police reports and the version of 35 witnesses are part of the elements that the judge analyzes to make a decision. The sentence will be announced on August 29, more than a year after the doctor’s murder.
