Putin said that Zelensky has questions due to the lack of elections in Ukraine
The decision of the leadership of Ukraine and the country’s President Vladimir Zelensky not to hold elections raises questions, said Russian leader Vladimir Putin. His words are conveyed RIA News.
“The current leadership of Ukraine has decided not to go to the polls, which means there are questions. There is Article 103 of the Constitution of Ukraine, it states that the president is elected for only five years,” he said.
On May 14, during a visit to Kyiv, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that new elections in Ukraine will take place when its people consider it possible. He also added that the US side is working with the Ukrainian government and civil society groups to strengthen election infrastructure.
On May 20, Zelensky’s term of office officially expired. New elections are not being held in the country due to martial law.
