Snowden said that states and corporations want to take control of AI
Governments and large companies want to seize control of artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced by former US National Security Agency (NSA) employee Edward Snowden at the SuperAI event dedicated to AI in Singapore, reports Bloomberg.
During his speech at the conference, Snowden said that governments and corporations want to take control of AI, and warned that this could make the technology less useful. “We are witnessing the birth of a child using a completely new technology and we are already seeing werewolves starting to circle around,” he said.

It is noted that authorities in different countries are working on their approach to regulating AI. In particular, the European Union has passed legislation that will restrict the use of this technology, and China has banned companies from providing artificial intelligence services without proper permission.
The ex-NSA employee also expressed concern about the growing control of IT giants over AI content. In his opinion, the main risk is that corporate employees could impose their policies on artificial intelligence models. At the same time, Snowden noted that attempts to control AI will not be successful because “technology is developing too quickly.”
Earlier it was reported that a chatbot was launched in China, trained on the ideas of the country’s head Xi Jinping. It was clarified that the system can answer questions, create reports, make retellings, and also translate from Chinese into English.
