The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department identified seven steps that it described as “easy and simple” for a more cohesive and sustainable family life, noting that the punishment for domestic violence in accordance with Articles (5) and (9) of Federal Decree Law No. (10) of 2019 stipulates that it is punishable by imprisonment. A period not exceeding six months and a fine not exceeding 5,000 dirhams, or one of these two penalties, for anyone who commits any of the acts of domestic violence (physical abuse, psychological abuse, sexual abuse, economic abuse).
The department emphasized that the family has a prominent role in the development, growth, stability and strength of society, through its main role in raising a generation that preserves values and is able to participate in building its homeland and bear responsibility, noting that it is making pioneering efforts to support the preservation of the family entity by intensifying its awareness programs and initiatives that It is suitable for all family members, to achieve family stability as the basic building block of a cohesive and cohesive society.
She called for following seven steps to maintain a stable family life, which included: accepting the differences between the two parties, which makes family life more flexible, preserving religious values and teachings in all daily dealings, knowing family rights and duties and performing them correctly, and showing love, exchanging feelings and appreciation between members. In the Family Protection Guide, she pointed out the importance of possessing problem-solving skills through the spouses identifying the issues of disagreement and trying to communicate a solution to the problems, making decisions in a participatory manner away from the individuality in making fateful decisions, staying calm and avoiding excitement during disagreements, and giving each party attention to the other. She warned of the impact of domestic violence on children and adolescents, as children store it in their memories and it appears in some of their behaviors in the form of fear and anxiety. Reconciliation is good
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department revealed the implementation of 47 family awareness workshops during the past year, through the “Reconciliation is Good” program, from which about 4,000 people benefited, with the aim of raising the level of awareness among the family in light of the rapid changes, while delivering awareness messages using advanced methods and implementation. Training workshops rich in multimedia and interactive exercises to provide skills that reduce discord between spouses and help them overcome difficulties that may lead to family disintegration. She stressed that family mentors in the Judicial Department play a pivotal role in enhancing effective efforts to persuade spouses to end disputes amicably and reach an agreement that satisfies all parties, by holding intensive guidance sessions for both parties to the conflict with specialized social, psychological and legal mentors, to research and discuss problems and their causes from various aspects. And provide the necessary suggestions within treatment plans that take into account the changes surrounding the family, enabling it to solve any problem it faces in the future.
