Hamdan: the conditions outlined by the US indicate that the IDF is not ready to withdraw troops
The terms of negotiations on establishing a truce in the Gaza Strip, outlined by the head of the United States Joe Biden, indicate that Israel does not plan to withdraw its troops from there. The politician’s statement was appreciated by Osama Hamdan, a member of the Politburo of the Palestinian Hamas movement, writes TASS.
“The US President’s words about ‘negotiations that will continue until the parties reach a consensus’ indicate that Israel is only interested in one stage of the truce – at which it could pick up its prisoners,” he noted.
According to Hamdan, the Israeli authorities “do not want a ceasefire and do not want to achieve any results in the negotiations.”
The day before, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel was ready to stop hostilities in the Gaza Strip for 42 days in order to free hostages captured by the Palestinian radical movement Hamas.
Netanyahu previously said that for a complete ceasefire, Tel Aviv would demand the fulfillment of its previous conditions: the destruction of Hamas’ military capabilities, the release of all hostages and the neutralization of the threat to Israel from Gaza.
