Isetsky: Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Ivanov can return the seized property
The seized property of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov may be returned to him after a verdict is passed. About it TASS said lawyer Eduard Isetsky.
The defender explained that such a development of events is possible in two cases. The seizure of property is lifted when a sentence is passed and after it enters into legal force, then the court will separately indicate this in the text of the sentence, or the seizure can only be lifted by proving the lack of involvement of the accused in the seized property.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was arrested at the end of April. He was detained at his workplace. According to investigators, the deputy minister entered into a criminal conspiracy and, as part of an organized group, received property benefits from contracting and subcontracting work for the needs of the military department. Ivanov was charged under Article 290 (“Receiving a bribe on an especially large scale”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He did not admit his guilt.
The FSB has been collecting materials on Ivanov for five years. One of the episodes of the case concerns the receipt of bribes during the construction of the National Defense Management Center (NDCM), which is essentially the “think tank” of the Russian Armed Forces.
