Chairman of the Executive Council, and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning in the Emirate of Dubai announced the award of two contracts for the development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah (1) beaches, with a length of 5.7 kilometers for the two beaches, including 4.3 km in Al Mamzar Beach, and 1.4 km in Jumeirah (1), and the cost of the two projects is estimated at about 355 million dirhams.
The two projects, which will take 18 months to complete, represent a qualitative shift in the design of beaches, as radical changes will be implemented according to integrated future plans, aiming to change the appearance of the beaches and enhance their infrastructure to be the most advanced and attractive in the world, which will represent a new recreational tourist destination to host the increasing numbers of beachgoers. And lovers of beach and water sports and night swimming, providing an ideal experience for residents, tourists and visitors alike, on the beaches of Dubai, one of the best tourist destinations in the emirate.
The public beach development projects in the Al Mamzar and Jumeirah (1) areas fall within the ongoing efforts to develop sustainable infrastructure for all coastal and beach facilities, in line with the objectives of the comprehensive plan to develop public beaches in Dubai, and provide them with new recreational, sports, aesthetic and investment facilities, in accordance with the highest international standards.

The project provides a unique global model in designing beaches and enhancing the capacity of beachgoers, in line with the population and tourism growth of the emirate, as the beaches will be equipped with a comprehensive infrastructure of advanced future services and facilities, most notably the allocation of the first beach for night swimming 24/7 in the Deira area with a length of 300 metres. There is a 5-km-long pedestrian path adjacent to the two beaches, and 11-km-long cycling and running paths surrounded by trees, in addition to the construction of a 200-meter-long floating bridge linking both sides of Al Mamzar Beach, which is considered the first of its kind in the emirate. The beaches will also be equipped with public health and service facilities such as bathrooms, shower areas and changing rooms along the two beaches, designed according to the best international practices that ensure comfort and privacy, in addition to allocating 10 areas for recreational games and children’s games, areas for beach and physical sports, and others for barbecues, in addition to restrooms. On the beach, and spaces for seasonal events with secured entrances and exits, in addition to providing more than 1,400 parking spaces for cars and buses, including designated parking lots for charging environmentally friendly cars, in addition to providing drinking water stations, irrigation networks, and sewage drainage with a length of more than 5 km, as well as modern automatic irrigation systems.
