Without incentives, great crisis
Nothing to be done: without incentives the market suffers. And in fact in May 2024, 139,581 cars were registered compared to the 149,482 registrations recorded in the same month of the previous year, equal to a decrease of 6.62%.
A crisis foreseen by dealers
The global volume of monthly sales, equal to 622,346, involved 22.43% new cars and 77.57% used cars.
“The further decline in the car market – explained Massimo Artusi, the President of Federauto, the Federation of car dealers – of cars in the month of May was expected due to the prolonged wait – over six months – for the ecobonus for the purchase of low emission vehicles, but this does not mean it can be considered a satisfactory figure, given that the differential remains high both from the same month of last year and from the same period of 2019, the last real reference year of the market, and that the segment of electric and plug-in batteries – the main beneficiaries of the measure – has undergone a clear contraction which distances the objectives of the path towards the green transition and makes it difficult to predict the actual acceptance of this type of power supply by the market”.
