Former US President Donald Trump warned of the consequences if the court issued a prison sentence after he was convicted by a jury in New York a few days ago.
Trump said, in an interview broadcast on Sunday, that a prison sentence against him could be a “turning point” for his supporters.
In an interview with Fox, the Republican candidate for the presidential elections scheduled for next November warned that a prison sentence “will be difficult for the public to accept,” adding, “As you know, at some point, there comes a turning point.”
After six-week sessions in a Manhattan court in New York, the jury declared Donald Trump guilty of all 34 charges against him in the case of falsifying accounting documents at the end of 2016 to hide the amount of money he paid to buy a woman’s silence.
These are charges that Donald Trump continues to deny.
The Republican candidate for the November 2024 elections became the first former US president to be criminally convicted.
