In an operation derived from a citizen report and disseminated on social networks, the Michoacán Civil Guard seized around 2,000 groceries and electoral propaganda material in a property in the municipality of Charo. The Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes (FEDE) opened an Investigation Folder to clarify the facts, which could constitute a electoral crime in the context of the 2024 elections.
The discovery occurred in the town of Los Girasoles, where the authorities, with the authorization of the property’s watchman, carried out an exhaustive inspection. At the site, in addition to the pantries, propaganda from various political parties and an LED screen were discovered. All this material was secured and made available to the Public Ministry.
According to the Approved Police Report (IPH) presented to the FEDE, the intervention occurred after receiving a citizen report and its subsequent dissemination on social networks, where the alleged use of pantries to influence the vote was reported. Given these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office has indicated that it will continue with the investigations to determine the origin and destination of the pantries, as well as the link of the advertising maquila company involved.
It is worth remembering that, in accordance with article 41 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, from March 1 until the conclusion of election day, all government propaganda must be suspended, except that which refers to educational and health services. or civil protection.
