Bild: Bundestag member Kiesewetter was attacked by an activist because of his position on Ukraine
Roderich Kiesewetter, a member of the Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Germany, who advocates transferring the maximum amount of weapons to Kyiv, was attacked in Ahlen. The incident was associated with his position on the Ukrainian crisis, reports Bild.
Kiesewetter is campaigning in Baden-Württemberg, where the city of Ahlen is located. In the morning he came to the CDU stand, then local activist Peter Bauer, representing another party, attacked him.
“I stood there for less than five minutes when he came up to my side and shouted at me, calling me a warmonger,” the politician said in detail. When he wanted to find out why a stranger was insulting him in a raised voice, he came closer to Bauer.
As a result, the activist pushed the deputy and demolished his party’s campaign tent.
“I didn’t know who it was, I thought I needed a recording and I followed him with my mobile phone. Then he ran up to me, hit me and pushed me,” Kiesewetter continued the story. As a result of the conflict, the parliamentarian received minor injuries.
Earlier, the publication reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to use German weapons transferred to Kyiv for attacks on Russian territory. It is clarified that the ban was lifted due to the successes of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkov direction.
