Meloni: “I graduated with 60/60 but I wasn’t the classic nerd. In conduct I got a 7 then at the end of the year I got away with it”
In a recent conversation with “PolitiGame – Speciale Europee” by Skuola.net, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared personal experiences and political reflections, addressing in particular Generation Z in view of the next European elections scheduled for 8 and 9 June. Meloni encouraged young people to go and vote, underlining the importance of not underestimating Europe, which, despite the absence of active interest, still influences the lives of citizens. Meloni then spoke about his school career, revealing that he achieved the linguistic high school diploma with top marks, 60 out of 60. However, she was keen to point out that she was not a “nerd” in the traditional sense, but to have excelled thanks to concentrated and effective study sessions, especially in the last hours before the questions. A characteristic aspect concerned his conduct, which initially tended to be penalizing, and then improved over the course of the year.
The prime minister shared some of hers adolescent passions, including love for languages, in particular stimulated by listening to songs and films in the original language. An interest that pushed her, for example, to learn more about English through the music of Michael Jackson. On the other hand, he has admitted his difficulties with mathematics, an obstacle that he finds himself facing again while helping his daughter with her homework. She was asked about the evaluation of the work done so far by his government, Meloni responded with a 75 out of 100, highlighting the need to never settle and always aim for improvement. An acknowledgment of the work accomplished, but also an admission that there is always room to do more. Among the successful examples given, he cited the project in Caivano, where it was possible to regenerate a degraded area, leaving a tangible and lasting sign for the community.
Meloni then touched the work theme, highlighting how his government is working to make the most of European funds, in order to reduce territorial disparities in Italy. He highlighted a specific regulation that encourages the hiring of young people under 35 with permanent contracts, relieving companies of the burden of taxes for the first two years. With these words, the Prime Minister spoke directly to young people, highlighting how today’s political choices are fundamental for designing the European and Italian context in which they will live tomorrow. An invitation to vote that goes beyond simple electoral participation, underlining the importance of active and conscious involvement in politics, for a better future.
