The remake of Silent Hill 2 has been compared to the original for PS2 by ElAnalistaDeBits, who created a video in which the two versions of the Konami classic run side by side in order to highlight the many differences.
With so many years and several console generations having passed since the release of Silent Hill 2, it is clear and evident that the two products have a profoundly different appearancebut some specific Bloober Team choices also stand out in the comparison, see for example the new view behind the protagonist.
There are also some variations in terms of plotsuch as the first meeting between James and one of the creatures that infest Silent Hill, which in the original took place in a tunnel, while in the remake it occurs inside a house.
The other differences
The map has also changedwith some interconnections present in the remake which however were missing in the first version of Silent Hill 2, as well as a profoundly different degree of interaction regarding the collection of objects, which is now possible even after breaking some glass.
About the scenarios, if in the original the element of fog was an expedient in order to display fewer elements on the screen, in the remake this aspect was handled in a more interesting way and the design of the locations underwent a significant boost in terms of quality and details.
Also the combat system takes advantage of the new viewespecially when using firearms, and managing inventory tools has been made much quicker and more intuitive.
In short, a lot of new features await us in the remake of Silent Hill 2, which will arrive in stores on October 8 on PC and PS5.
