In an operation carried out on Friday, May 31, the authorities of the Mexico City They arrested three Venezuelan citizens identified as Josver “N”, Jonathan “N” and Junior “N”.
The men were arrested for allegedly engaging in electoral crimes during the electoral ban and transferred to the Public Ministry to determine their legal situation.
Although the CDMX Electoral Prosecutor’s Office has not specified the type of crime they committed, an investigation file has been initiated to clarify the facts.
What electoral crimes did they commit?
The arrest has been framed in a complex political context, since a Morena spokesperson released videos of the arrests, ensuring that The detainees confessed to having been hired by the PRI to post electoral propaganda in exchange for $250.
Gabriela Cuevas, a member of the official presidential campaign, was the one who broadcast the first video of the arrest on her official ‘X’ account.
In the video, the detainees confirmed that they were Venezuelans and declared that they worked for the PRI. One of the individuals showed a T-shirt with propaganda by Santiago Taboada and assured that his contractor was a person identified as ‘Juan’ and ‘the senior boss Diana’.
A second video shows the tools used to hang banners and distribute propaganda from the opposition alliance, material that was confiscated by the authorities.
The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Attention of Electoral Crimes (FEPADE) confirmed these arrests and reiterated that the legal situation of the detainees will be determined by the Public Ministry.
