The Executive Coordination of the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) has reported that the atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM) starting at 3:00 p.m. today.
This decision was made after observing a decrease in hourly ozone concentrations, which are now below the levels established in the Program to Prevent and Respond to Atmospheric Environmental Contingencies.
The Mexico City Atmospheric Monitoring System reported that this afternoon a loss of intensity was recorded in the high pressure system that affected central Mexico.
This meteorological condition favored better ventilation in the ZMVM, resulting in a decrease in ozone concentrations.
Most of the air quality monitoring stations in the ZMVM now register levels within the norm, with a decreasing trend in the concentrations of this pollutant.
Favorable Weather Forecasts
Weather forecast models indicate that conditions tomorrow will be even more conducive to the dispersion of pollutants. However, various weather forecasts suggest that during the weekend conditions could occur that favor the formation and accumulation of ozone, increasing the possibility of reaching high concentrations.
