The latest announcement from Riot Games was not liked by many players. The company has indeed revealed that soon will put a new set of skins on sale in the MOBA League of Legends, one of which is worth more than $400. 450, to be precise. Basically, for the same price you can buy a console. Some players were perplexed by the news, also considering the name to which it is linked.
But let’s take a step back. In recent weeks Riot Games has introduced in League of Legends the “Hall of Legends”, which is essentially a Hall of Fame dedicated to the best League players of all time. As easily expected, the Korean champion Faker, born Lee Sang-hyeok, was the first to enter.
Astronomical prices
So far so good, except that to celebrate his entry, a set of skins has been revealed, which will be added to the game with the next pass dedicated to Faker, whose prices are astonishing, in a negative sense. The set includes a skin for Leblanc, but Riot will also sell three skin variants for Ahri, the cheapest of which will be worth $40 in equivalent Riot Points. The most expensive skinhowever, is sold in a collection of various items for the astronomical sum of 59,260 Riot Points, which is equivalent to approximately $450.
Immediately after the announcement, the League of Legends community began complaining on social networks, with very negative comments on the announced prices. Some players have joked by asking that the purchase of the most expensive skin also corresponds to a visit to Faker’s house. Others have spoken of an unpleasant initiative that will capitalize on the popularity of the player (who will earn his share from sales, of course).
