“He was one of the centers who kept the Abdul Jabbar in the 70s until his continuous problems with injuries ended up putting him down. He went down in history in 1973, with his 44 points (and 21 of 22 field goals) in the university final with UCLA against Memphis State. That record in the title match is still valid,” stated the Spanish newspaper.
He realized that he broke his foot twice, “the first after making the Blazers champion, the only title in the history of the franchise. portlandwhen this team had won 50 of the first 60 games and was riding towards the second ring.”
“In the game that gave Portland the title against the Sixers he achieved 20 points, 23 rebounds, 8 blocks and 7 assists, one of the best performances ever in such a decisive duel,” he said.
