The large number of casualties that Millonarios has had due to injuries seemed to leave coach Alberto Gamero with no room for maneuver, who this Wednesday stakes his future in the semi-final home runs as a visitor, against Atlético Bucaramanga.
Players like Leonardo Castro, Santiago Giordana, Stiven Vega, Jhoan Hernández and Daniel Cataño are not available due to various physical problems. For this reason, Gamero decided to change his approach, at least on paper, for this Wednesday’s game at the Alfonso López stadium.
The Millonarios lineup is quite a surprise. The coach decided to play with five defenders in Bucaramanga, three center backs (Alex Moreno Paz, Juan Pablo Vargas and Jorge Arias) and two full backs (Delvin Alfonzo and Danovis Banguero.
The big absence at the back is that of Andrés Llinás, who was left out due to a technical decision and will start the game on the substitute bench. Llinás is the second player with the most minutes in Millos in the semester (1,710, only surpassed by Alfonzo, who has spent 2,025 minutes on the pitch).
In theory, Gamero gave up playing with wingers and two other trusted players of the coach, Daniel Ruiz and Emerson Rodríguez, also start as substitutes.
Millonarios is last in quadrangular A, with three points in three games, and has no margin for error: it must win this Wednesday if it wants to stay in the race. For now, Gamero tries to play something else, looking for solutions.
