The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that the Security Cabinet, headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has a firm commitment to addressing conflictive areas or regions during the electoral process this year, and stated that Mexico is in peace and tranquility.

On Monday, the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico met with the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in a work session on the occasion of the 2023-2024 Federal Electoral Process, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining permanent coordination to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The meeting was headed by the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján, and the president advisor of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei Zavala.
Senior officials of the Government of Mexico also participated, including the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, and the Secretaries of National Defense and the Navy, Luis Cresencio Sandoval González and José Rafael Ojeda Durán, respectively.
During the meeting, it was reported that, by presidential instruction, a total of 27,245 elements of the federal security forces, including the National Guard, have been deployed to carry out patrol work and deterrent presence in all entities of the country.
This operation, well structured in neighborhoods and municipalities, will intensify as election day approaches, with the National Guard carrying out surveillance tasks during election day, always in coordination with the Security Cabinet.
Additionally, a Monitoring Center has been established at the SSPC facilities, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This center, which has the participation of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Intelligence Center, the National Guard and the Prevention and Social Readaptation system, is ready to provide the help required at any time.
Another highlight of the meeting was the Candidate Protection Plan, implemented in agreement with the INE, to guarantee the safety of each candidate who requests protection.
This protocol allows candidates to carry out their campaigns without setbacks, with immediate support from the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Guard.
The SSPC He highlighted that to date, 537 protection requests have been attended to, of which 492 have active protection.
The session also addressed the implementation of a special device for voting in 14 federal penitentiary centers, carried out by the INE between May 6 and 18.
