Chilangos abroad can now cast their electronic vote for the Head of Government and the Migrant Provincial Councilensuring their participation in the democratic process and reaffirming their link with Mexico City.
From May 18 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 (Central Mexico time), CDMX residents who live abroad will be able to participate in the electoral process through electronic voting online.
This democratic exercise will allow the chilangas and chilangos to elect the person who will occupy the Head of Government of Mexico City and the Migrant Council, within the framework of the Ordinary Local Electoral Process 2023-2024.
The Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) has called on the 51,805 people from the capital living abroad who registered to vote, reminding them of the importance of participating in local elections and thus influencing the future of their city. .
Since May 3, 2024, these citizens received by email the information necessary to access the electronic voting system.
To cast their vote, Chilangos abroad must enter the Internet Electronic Voting System (SIVEI) using the access account received in their registered email.
Subsequently, they must complete the verification process, generate a password, access the voting section, mark the corresponding ballots and confirm their vote to proceed with sending.
In addition to electronic voting, Chilangos abroad can opt for the postal voting modality.
Those who chose this option received the Postal Electoral Package in early May, which includes printed ballots, instructions and a prepaid envelope to send their vote back.
It is essential that these votes reach the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Mexico before 08:00 hours (Central Mexico Time) on June 1, 2024.
For those who prefer to vote in person, the IECM and the INE have enabled Voting Reception Modules in 23 consular offices. Chilangos who choose this option must present a valid Voting Credential, whether processed abroad or in Mexico.
With these measures, the electoral authorities seek to ensure that all residents of the capital living abroad can exercise their right to vote.
