This is how things are: a few days ago Capcom published a financial report that speaks of another record year for the company, but clearly the aim is to do even better in the next round and the release of a new chapter of Resident Evil represents a key element in this sense.
In fact, to succeed in the undertaking, the Japanese company needs it push sales of products already in the cataloguewhich has proven to happen precisely in conjunction with the release of new games belonging to the same franchises, probably due to a question of “recovery” by users.
“Capcom wants to set a profit record this fiscal year,” Dusk Golem wrote. “Well, what contributes most in this sense are not only the new games coming out, but also the sales of their pre-existing catalog.”
“During fiscal 2023, Capcom sold just under 36 million copies of its games from the pre-existing catalog, and just over a third were Resident Evil episodes. These types of products sell more when new upcoming chapters are announced.”
