THE 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5X which is said to be found on Nintendo Switch 2 they could allow the new Nintendo console to deliver better textures than Xbox Series Swhich from this point of view must deal with some limitations.
The Digital Foundry editorial team was the one to think about the topic, after explaining a few weeks ago that Nintendo Switch 2 will probably be more powerful than PS4 but less than Steam Deck. The possible increase in RAM compared to the current model it would imply substantial benefits.
The lack of memory represents in fact a major bottleneck both for performance and image quality purposes, as developers who often have to deal with the 10 GB made available by Xbox Series S well know.
Of course, Digital Foundry explained this particular aspect does not imply that Nintendo Switch 2 will be more powerful than Xbox Series San unlikely hypothesis considering that the first will have to reiterate its handheld nature.
Will DLSS be a game changer?
We were saying: Nintendo Switch 2 probably won’t be as powerful as the Xbox Series S, but support for DLSS technology it will play a fundamental role in allowing the console to offer a certain visual quality while actually working at “undemanding” resolutions.
With this in mind the 12GB of RAM will definitely come in handy and the final result could surprise those who are aware of the actual power of a machine which, on paper, has everything it needs to do very well.
It remains only to understand when Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced: the company has confirmed that we will talk about it during this fiscal yearbut an official reveal probably won’t arrive before the summer.
