We are just over a week away from the closure of Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin and two other studios. In this way, it is a total surprise to hear that Xbox has created a new studio, which is already working on a large-scale AAA experience.
According to The Verge, Elsewhere Entertainment is a new internal studio from Activision, which is working on a new “narrative-focused, genre-defining AAA franchise.” The developer team includes people who have worked on The Last of Us, Uncharted, Destiny, Cyberpunk 2077 and more titles of this caliber.
Although at the moment there are no specific details about this new project, considering the short description and the history of its developers, It is likely that we are looking at a single player experience with a focus on history. However, it is not ruled out that some element of gaming as a service is included.
The interesting thing is that Xbox, who we remember, owns Activision and, therefore, also Elsewhere Entertainment, closed four studios, and just a few days after this event it was announced that a new team is already working on a AAA experience . Unlike something like Perfect Dark, which seems to be in trouble, Activision may have a better handle on Elsewhere Entertainmentso the final result could not take more than five years.
As usual, We just have to wait for more information to become available.. On related topics, the arrival of Halo to PlayStation is imminent. Likewise, it seems that a new Crash Bandicoot is on the way.
Author’s Note:
Activision needs more single player experiences. In this way, Elsewhere Entertainment’s work could be exactly what the company requires today. However, it is clear that this project has to be a success no matter what.
