Yesterday, Wednesday, May 15, Teacher’s Day, the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNT) marched towards the plank Zócalo of Mexico City and was planted indefinitely considering that the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has not met their demands, among them, the salary increase.
The leaders held a rally and set up some tents to announce the sit-in with representatives from Oaxaca, Chiapas, the State of Mexico and CDMX.
Although within the framework of the celebration of Teacher’s Day, President AMLO announced a 10 percent salary increase for teachers, the sector considered this insufficient increase.
“He The time we are out of the classroom no longer depends on usbut of this government and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” said the teacher leaders during the rally.
The teacher leader assured that this administration still has to resolve their demands because they leave the budget for next year. He also insisted that one of the most important demands is the cancellation of educational reform.
“We are not going to stop insisting on the total repeal of the so-called educational reform and the disastrous Usicamm Law, which places us in a regime of labor exception.”
This Thursday, May 16, teacher leaders will meet with authorities to deliver their demands and define the steps to follow.
