Absurd Ventures, the Rockstar co-founder’s team works on a game: the first details

It seems that Absurd Venturesthe team created by co-founder of Rockstar Games Dan Houser, is working on a Open world action game.

The information was discovered thanks to job advertisements posted on the Absurd Ventures website, through which we now know that Houser’s new studio is precisely working on “an open-world action-adventure game” and is currently looking for a Lead Gameplay Designer.

While the term “open-world action-adventure game” is exclusively present in this specific job posting, the Santa Monica-based studio is looking for someone to also fill the roles of Art Director, Lead Designer, Senior Art Director, Senior Producer, Senior Technical Director and Technical Director in the Game Development area.

The announcement of the Lead Gameplay Designer indicates that the selected person “will become primarily responsible for the vision of the game and will personally contribute to the design of characters, controls and cameras in an open world action-adventure game. The person in this role will lead a team of multidisciplinary specialists to deliver best-in-class combat and third-person action across multiple game modes.”

The announcement may also indicate some additional details for the Absurd action-adventure game, as it specifies that it is looking for a candidate with experience in the development of both melee and shooting mechanicsand that “multiplayer combat design experience is a plus.”

Absurd Venture’s careers page also reports that “additional roles will be hired for our game development teams in the future” and that therefore general applications are also accepted.

Dan Houserbest known as a co-founder of Rockstar Games, left the studio behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises in 2020, shifting his focus to creating a new studio, Absurd Ventures.

Houser’s new study is trying to range across different types of mediaincluding live action and animated films, books, graphic novels, scripted podcasts and more… including video games, of course.
