Netflix has not only focused on licensing anime from Japan, but has also worked to create its properties. This is the case of Terminator Zero, which is in charge of Production IG, the same ones who are working on Kaiju No. 8 right now. Thus, Today the first official look at this production was shared.
Recently, Entertainment Weekly had the opportunity to speak with Mattson Tomlin, the writer of Terminator Zero, to discuss the story and location in which this anime will take place. To start, this story takes place in Japan, in 1997. While all the movies are still canon, This work is inspired by the first two films, and the focus will be on new characters. This is what Tomlin mentioned about it:
“I think it’s time to tackle new characters and not burden myself with another John and Sarah Connor saga. There has been an attempt to do so on a couple of different occasions. There are many references to the other films. Fans who really know the movies will make the Leo meme from Once Upon a Time. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but it won’t be as direct as when John Connor comes in, because John Connor doesn’t come in.”
Along with that, The first official images of Terminator Zerowhich give us a better look at the adventure that awaits us on Netflix in just a couple of months.
Although Terminator Zero It is carried out apart from everything we know about this series, there are still multiple characteristic elements, such as a soldier from the future who is sent to the past to protect a scientist named Malcolm Leewhich is working to launch an artificial intelligence that will compete against the Skynet system.
All episodes of Terminator Zero will arrive on Netflix next August 29. On related topics, there is already a date for early access of Terminator Survivor. Likewise, you can learn more about this new production here.
Author’s Note:
Terminator Zero looks like the best property project since the series The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I hope this anime has the desired success. Production IG is a great studio, and I can’t wait to see what they do with this property.
