It was a long stage that took place this Wednesday in the Giro d’Italia with some drama at the end of the race with a fall a few meters from the metal. The Italian Jonathan Milan raised his arms at the finish line and consolidates his lead in the points classification to be the undisputed owner of the Ciclamino jersey.
The day was somewhat calmer for the leaders of the Giro d’Italia than this Tuesday, the 207-kilometer section starting in Foiano di Val Fortor and finishing in Francavilla al Mare was mostly flat and was designed for sprinters.
Thomas Champion, Edoardo Affini and Tim Van Djike made the first move and took off in the first kilometers of the race, managing to lap more than two minutes behind a peloton that was traveling calmly and was not about to push the pace.
The race was calm, the main group in which the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez and Tadej Pogacar were traveling caught up with the escapees and regrouped to face the last 35 kilometers.
There was a scare on stage 11 of the Giro, when rider Felix Grosschartner, Pogacar’s teammate on the UAE Team Emirates, fell. The runner got up from the ground with several injuries to his arms.
