Video game adaptations have become the new trend in Hollywood. As part of an event that took place today, Amazon confirmed that a live action series tomb Raider is already in developmentwith Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the main person in charge of making this vision a reality.
According to Deadline, Jen Salke, head of MGM and Amazon Studios, has given Waller-Bridge the task of creating an adaptation of Tomb Raider, which he has described as an “epic” series that will take place throughout the world. This is what Waller-Bridge said about it:
“If I could tell my teenage self that this was happening, I think he would explode. Tomb Raider has been a big part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as it does to many, and I can’t wait to embark on this adventure. Bats and everything.”
Although Phoebe Waller-Bridge, famous for the series Fleabagis in charge of the script, at the moment there is not a single performance linked to this project, and considering that this adaptation was barely confirmed, It is likely to be some time before we see this work become a reality.
The series is executive produced by Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robbins via Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson through dj2 Entertainment, Michael Scheel and Legendary Television, as well as Crystal Dynamics. Greenblatt and Andolina are consulting producers under their Star Party banner. The series is produced by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios.
Along with the series, Let’s remember that a new game by Crystal Dynamics is already in development, although we haven’t heard much about this project in recent months.
