The Japanese publisher SAW Sammy published its financial report for the last fiscal year, ended March 31, 2024, from which we learned the sales of the series Person in the last months. In general we are talking about a truly positive trend, for what has now become a reference series for the world of Japanese role-playing games.
According to the data, between January and March 2024 the Persona series sold 2.39 million units worldwide (the figure includes physical and digital sales). The result was largely born from the launch of Persona 3 Reload, which took place on February 2, which recorded the speed record of sales in the history of Atlus.
Over the entire fiscal year, the Persona series sold 5.06 million copies, following this trend:
approximately 630,000 copies were sold between April and June 2023, approximately 750,000 copies were sold between July and September 2023, and approximately 1.3 million copies were sold between October and December 2023.
Overall data
The series as a whole recorded a growth consistent over the last few years: from April 2021 to March 2022 it sold a total of 1.3 million copies; from April 2022 to March 2023 it sold 3.27 million copies (+1.97 million copies compared to the previous year); from April 2023 to March 2024 it sold 5.06 million copies (+1.79 million copies compared to the previous year).
In short, we are faced with a success that is growing year after year, probably also thanks to the positive word of mouth from the players, who often do not fail to underline their love for the various chapters, debating which is their favorite. Atlus in this it seems to have managed to balance quality with the control of production costs, for a truly valuable result, which we hope will last for a long time.
Currently the Persona series is stuck at fifth chapterone of Atlus’ most successful games, awaiting the arrival of the sixth, which has been rumored for some time.
