Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra leaks show a possible increase in RAM, while storage space should remain unchanged.
Rumors are circulating regarding Samsung maintaining several functions on the future Galaxy S25 Ultra compared to the current top of the range, Galaxy S24 Ultra, but the technical specifications could undergo significant changes.
According to Sawyer Galox, the Korean giant could finally implement a RAM upgrade for its 2025 flagship, while the internal storage capacity should remain unchanged.
The insider suggests that the next Galaxy S25 Ultra could reach a maximum capacity of 16 GB of RAMavailable alongside the traditional 12GB option, which is currently the only option offered by the S24 Ultra.
Galox also claims that Samsung has no plans to increase storage capacityso 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB variants could be available, the latter two accompanied by 16 GB of RAM.
Change due
Samsung started ramping up the specs with flagship models like the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra, both of which come with 16GB of RAM, but has recently bucked that trend with its most recent releases.
No official explanation has been provided for this conservative choice in specifications, although it may be due to the increase in component costs.
Galaxy S25 Ultra, however, promises a change in approach compared to previous releases: the company may have realized that competition from various Chinese smartphone brands is impacting its sales, negatively influencing its global market share.
Another hypothesis follows the track that the entire Galaxy S25 series adopts Google’s second generation Gemini Nano, which could indicate that Samsung intends to enhance the features related to the suite of Galaxy AI.
The emphasis on increased RAM may echo the S24 Ultra’s numerous AI features, and since these features require more memory, the company has reportedly eliminated the version with 8GB of memory.
The focus on the 16GB of RAM may indicate that Samsung has more advanced features in store.
No change necessary
On the other hand, Samsung could be hesitant to increase total storage capacity since consider that most users may not find such an upgrade particularly useful.
Of course, some would like to carry their entire media library with them, but this category of consumers is likely to be rather small and does not correspond to the company’s vast market.
The rumor does not specify whether the Galaxy S25 Ultra will support one microSD card slotbut considering Samsung’s latest releases, it could be ruled out altogether.
Although it is hoped that Samsung will give due importance to the specifications of its flagship, it is also prudent to take these rumors with caution.
At the moment, details on the S25 Ultra are rather scarce, beyond the fact that it could be equipped with the processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The launch date of the smartphone is not yet confirmed, with Samsung expecting to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 models very soon.
