The floods in southern Brazil have left terrible consequences, especially in the Rio Grande do Sul stadium and the city of Porto Alegre. According to the report from the authorities of that country on Wednesday afternoon, 100 people died, another 374 were injured and 130 are missing.
Almost 200,000 people have had to be evacuated from their homes. The Puerto Alegre airport was flooded and would barely be operational again at the end of May. Several roads were left impassable due to the constant rains.
The weather forecast is that the rains will continue in the coming days. There are 388 municipalities affected by the strong storm.
Neymar’s displays of solidarity
In recent days, Neymar had sent humanitarian aid on his private planes. “I don’t like to publish everything I do or what I help with, because those who do it… do it from the heart and not out of commitment. So this message is to encourage people to help even more,” he wrote on your X account.
Additionally, this Wednesday, a helicopter owned by Neymar traveled to Porto Alegre to bring water and food.
“On the return flight, he evacuated a woman who arrived on a stretcher to a care point for those affected set up by the rescue forces on the BR-116 highway, in the municipality of Eldorado do Sul,” the Efe agency reported.
The serious floods have also affected the development of the Conmebol tournaments. The entity has already postponed four matches of the teams that play in Porto Alegre.
In the Copa Libertadores, the matches that Gremio was supposed to play against Huachipato, as a visitor, and Estudiantes de La Plata, as a local, were postponed. And in the Sudamericana, the next two Internacional matches were postponed, in Bolivia against Real Tomayapo and at home against Delfín.
