The Office kept us company for 9 unforgettable seasons: how can we forget the over-the-top charisma of Michael Scott (Steve Carell), the pranks of Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) or the rough but tender originality of Dwight Shrute (Rainn Wilson)?
The office work of a paper company ended up becoming a real pillar in the history of television: The Office is still one of the most watched and loved comedy series in the world, despite the last season was released more than 10 years ago.
Now that Peacock has taken over the rights to the series, the news that millions of fans have been waiting for (or fearing) has finally arrived: The Office will returnin the sense that the narrative universe we know will return, but we won’t find ourselves in the Dunder Mifflin offices.
As reported by CBR, Peacock has revealed that none of the original actors will return to their roles, simply because the protagonists will no longer be Michael, Jim, Pam or Dwight, but new characters in a new office…journalistic!
The only constant will be found in the broadcast style: the mockumentary is back and it’s back the super-invasive crew who we got to know more closely in the final season of the original series. According to Peacock’s first statements, the plot will see us immersed in a dying newspaper, with an editor who will do everything to save it.
We don’t know anything about the cast yet nor even on the release date of a return that we await with bated breath.
